SANTA CLARITA, Los Angeles County — 2026 election update. Santa Clarita’s District 2 council contest remains a relatively close three-candidate race in the preliminary election count.

Reported results

Denise Lite has 5,601 votes (39.95%), Brett Haddoak 5,459 (38.93%), and Gloria Mercado-Fortine 2,961 (21.12%). Lite’s advantage over Haddoak is 142 votes.

What voters decided

Council District 2 elects one representative, and its constituency is different from Districts 4 and 5. The first two candidates have each received under 40% of the reported candidate vote in this three-way contest. These are preliminary totals. Mail, conditional and provisional ballots may change both the gap and percentages before certification. Local voters should check the subsequent report rather than regard the early lead as settled.

Reporting and verification

These numbers are from the November 2026 live election results listing available following the November 3 vote. The displayed table is subject to change, and its page publication date is not necessarily the update timestamp of every individual contest. This article does not claim that an official November 5 ballot batch has been independently confirmed. Los Angeles County is continuing the official canvass and will certify its results later.
